I am currently attempting to make brioche. My dad's been bugging me for weeks and I've been putting it off since it really takes a whole day or two days. Then I did some research and found that it's quite easy to mess up and I didn't want to end up with 10 inedible brioche à tête, so that didn't really motivate me to buy bread flour and more butter. However, in celebration of Labor Day, I decided to not dwell on other people's attempts and ended up using the recipe from my 11-yr old Joy of Baking instead of a recipe from online.
I did make some changes to the recipe. I'm using 2% milk instead of whole milk. The GM "bread flour" I bought ended up having the same amount of protein as my KA AP flour :/ (probably should've checked before I bought another 5 lb bag of flour, but oh well). (side note: I'm totally not a baking snob, but I've now learned why KA flour is so much more expensive that something like Giant-brand flour...it's so much finer and smoother to work with). Anyway, the first rise went okay (I thought I killed the yeast in the beginning), and now it's just slowly rising in the fridge for 12 hours. And by this time tomorrow, *crosses fingers* I will have fresh bread to eat :D
You think going to school at CP, I would've seen Fools & Horses at least once. But nope, saw them for the first time in Rockville a couple weeks ago. They're really good! Been listening to their music at work (Dr. Chen was on vacation for the past two weeks).
How is it almost September again? Good news: shows are back! Cannot wait for The Office, HIMYM and Pushing Daisies :D. (I totally got my sister hooked on HIMYM...we watched most of S2 in one sitting).
Also, Psych is an amazing show.
And now I need to go to bed.
